The back is self-adhesive and covered by a gridded protective paper: you remove the paper and apply it without glue. The pattern reproduces wood grain in a warm brown tone.

Wood effect vinyl wrap: sizes and material

You buy a roll 40 cm wide. The length is your choice: 1, 2, 3, 4, 5 or 6 metres, that is about 0.4, 0.8, 1.2, 1.6, 2 or 2.4 m² of surface. The material is PVC and the supplier's listing describes an embossed surface. The back has a gridded protective paper, for measuring and cutting. The supplier declares a tolerance of ±3% in the length. In one photo a calliper reads 0.218 mm at the edge of the vinyl: this reading is indicative, not a specification.

How to apply the wood effect vinyl wrap

Remove dust and dirt from the surface. Cut the vinyl 1-1.5 cm larger than the surface you are covering. To separate the protective paper, the supplier advises sticking adhesive tape to both edges of the sheet and pulling in opposite directions. Then press from the centre outwards, peeling off the paper slowly. If a bubble remains, prick it with a needle or the tip of a knife and smooth it out.

An honest tip: if you remove it from a varnished piece of furniture, some of the finish may come off. Test first in a hidden spot.

Brown wood effect vinyl: grain and tone

The colour is a single warm brown, which in the photos sits between brown and rust, with dark grain and an irregular pattern like real wood. The supplier warns that the tone may change with the light in the room and from one batch to another: if you need several rolls, order them together. When you join two strips, try to align the grain. The effect is purely visual: it is not real wood.

Where to use wood effect vinyl

The supplier lists smooth, clean walls, tiles, windows, smooth wallpaper, metal, wood and plastic as suitable. Dusty or damaged surfaces, water-based paint that is still wet and fabric are not suitable. The photos show kitchen doors, a door, a desk, a wardrobe and a sideboard.

Near the hobs and the oven there is no guidance on heat resistance, so leave a distance.

What length should I choose?

The roll is 40 cm wide. Measure the height and width of each door or surface: if a surface is wider than 40 cm, you need several strips side by side. Add up the lengths you need and allow 1-1.5 cm margin per cut. One metre covers about 0.4 m², six metres about 2.4 m².

Is it the same as real wood?

No. It is a PVC adhesive vinyl with a wood effect pattern: the look of the grain is reproduced, but the material is not wood. The data sheet states an embossed surface, that is, a slight texture. The colour may vary a little with light and from batch to batch.

Which surfaces can it be applied to?

The supplier lists smooth, clean walls, tiles, windows, smooth wallpaper, metal, wood and plastic. It is not suitable for dusty or damaged surfaces, water-based paint that is still wet, or fabric. Clean and dry the surface well before applying.

Can it be removed without damaging the furniture?

We cannot guarantee it: it depends on the surface and how long it has been in place. To remove it, lift a corner and pull slowly, parallel to the surface. On varnished furniture or delicate paint, some finish may come off: test first in a hidden spot.

Can I use it near the hobs?

The supplier gives no guidance on heat resistance, so we advise keeping a distance from hobs, the oven and other heat sources. It is fine for doors and furniture set back from heat. If you want to cover an area nearby, write to us before ordering.

When will my order arrive?
