Kitchen vinyl wrap
Kitchen vinyl wrap comes in a roll: you smooth it onto doors, worktops and splashback and renew the units without replacing them. You can choose marble, wood, granite and aluminium effect, or else lacquer effect, pearl effect and soft touch.
For the rest of the home, see the furniture vinyl wrap; for a plain colour, the plain coloured vinyl wraps.
Frequently asked questions
What is the difference between adhesive paper and PVC film?
In everyday language they are often used as synonyms: many people call adhesive paper what is really a vinyl film, that is, a PVC film. True adhesive paper has a paper base, absorbs water and soon gets spoiled in the kitchen. Vinyl or PVC film is cleaned with a damp cloth and follows edges and corners better. The products in this collection are films, not paper.
How do you renew a kitchen worktop without replacing it?
If the worktop is in good condition, you can cover it with a marble, granite, wood or aluminium effect vinyl. Clean and degrease well, smooth the vinyl on with the squeegee starting from the wall and fold it over the front edge. If the worktop is swollen by water or has lifted parts, the vinyl alone is not enough: it has to be repaired first. On the covered worktop always use a chopping board and trivet.
How many rolls do you need to cover the kitchen doors?
It depends on the number of doors and the length of the roll, given on the product page of each design. Measure the width and height of each door, add 2 or 3 cm per side for the flaps and add up the heights. Example: with a roll 60 cm wide, a door of 50 × 70 cm needs about 75 cm of roll. Divide the total by the length of the roll and round up.
Can the vinyl go on lacquered or laminate doors?
Yes: smooth surfaces are exactly where the adhesive grips most firmly. Wash the doors with a degreaser, rinse and let them dry well, because even a film of grease reduces the grip. On raw wood, flaking paint or doors with raised grain the vinyl grips less and shows the irregularities: in those cases sand and fill before putting it on.
Can adhesive vinyl be removed from kitchen units?
It can be removed, but the adhesive is made to stay put. Peel slowly, pulling the flap almost parallel to the furniture; a hair dryer on a low setting softens the glue. On laminate and lacquered surfaces usually only adhesive residue is left, which comes off with warm water and soap. On varnished or already damaged wood some of the finish may come off too: test first in a hidden corner.
