Rainbow window film: sizes and material

The material is PVC. The sizes are fifteen, written as width by length: with 30, 45 and 55 cm widths, the lengths are 100, 200, 300 and 500 cm; with 75, 90 and 115 cm widths there is only one length, 500 cm.

To work out the area it covers, multiply the width by the length: 45 × 200 cm is 0.9 m² and 90 × 500 cm is 4.5 m². The supplier does not state the thickness.

How to fit static window film

The supplier says the film only works on flat, clean and smooth glass, not on plastic, broken glass or uneven surfaces, and asks you to spray plenty of water during fitting. A supplier table adds some tips.

Remove the smooth protective layer and spray the water evenly.
Smooth the film out with a squeegee, from the centre towards the sides.
Carefully trim the excess from the edges.
If it is cold, let the film rest overnight after you receive it.

The supplier writes that you can try fitting it several times until the result suits you.

Rainbow effect on window film: what to expect

The film itself is transparent and has no printed colour. The supplier writes that, using 3D laser technology, it creates a rainbow effect when the sun shines: the colours change through the day, and the effect is stronger the more sun there is. With an overcast sky or low light, the effect is less marked.

The pattern is a crystal geometric design, and the choice only affects the size: there are no colour or pattern variants. The real look may differ a little from the photos, because of the light and the screen.

Where to use rainbow window film

The supplier recommends it for dining rooms, kitchens, bedrooms, bathrooms, restaurants and hotels. The photos show it on the windows of a living room. It only works on standard glass: the supplier's table excludes frosted, decorated, cracked, curved or toughened glass.

Which glass can it go on?

The supplier specifies flat, clean and smooth glass. Its table excludes frosted, decorative or patterned, broken, cracked, curved or toughened glass, and the film does not work on plastic or uneven surfaces. Before ordering, check the type of glass; if you are unsure, get in touch.

Is glue needed?

No. The supplier describes it as static film without glue: it sticks to the glass by electrostatic adhesion, with water sprayed onto the glass during fitting. That is why the glass must be smooth and very clean. The supplier writes that you can reposition it several times, but does not say how many times or for how long.

Is the rainbow always visible?

No. The film is transparent and the supplier writes that the rainbow effect appears in sunlight: the more sun there is, the stronger the effect, and the colours change through the day. With an overcast sky or low light the effect is less visible, so the look varies with the window's orientation.

How do I choose the size?

Measure the glass across the width and the height and choose a film a few centimetres larger on each side; then trim the excess. Sizes are written width × length: 55 × 200 cm means 55 cm wide and 200 cm long. If the glass is more than 115 cm wide, you will need to fit two pieces side by side.

What if bubbles form?

The supplier explains that bubbles are caused by too little water or water that has not been pushed out: spray more water evenly and smooth from the centre towards the sides with a squeegee. If bubbles appear at the edges, trim the excess carefully. If the film lifts and does not stick, spray plenty of water onto the glass after removing the protective layer.

When will my order arrive?
