Reflective window film: sizes and material

The roll is 60 cm wide. With the 500 cm variant you get 3 m² of film, and with the 600 cm variant 3.6 m²: only the length changes, and the colour is silver in both cases. The material is PET. The supplier describes it as static cling film: it sticks to the glass through static, not glue. The thickness is not stated. To work out how much you need, bear in mind the 60 cm width: a window 120 cm wide and 100 cm high needs two strips of 60 × 100 cm, that is 2 metres of roll.

How to apply static cling window film

The supplier does not describe the fitting, so these are general tips for films of this type. Clean the glass well and measure the area you want to cover. Cut the film with a craft knife and a ruler, leaving 1 or 2 cm extra on each side, and trim it once it is in place. Static cling films are usually applied to glass freshly sprayed with water: press from the centre towards the edges with a soft spatula to push out air bubbles. If you use several strips, work on one at a time. If the glass is large, ask someone to help you.

Silver: how the glass looks

The film is silver and has a mirror surface: the glass reflects the light and whatever is in front of it. However, a mirror film does not guarantee constant privacy. The effect depends on the difference in light between inside and outside: at night, with the lights on inside, there is no effect and you can see into the room. The supplier itself advises closing the curtains at night. That is why we cannot promise you privacy: consider how exposed the glass is and the hours when you use it.

Where to use reflective window film

The supplier shows it on windows, on a large sliding glazed door and on a bathroom window. In general it suits smooth window panes, glazed doors and balconies that you want to cover with a mirror look. It does not say which glass is suitable: for double glazing, toughened glass or glass with coatings, check with the window frame manufacturer before applying, because a reflective film changes the way the glass absorbs light and heat. Do not apply it to cracked glass.

Frequently asked questions

What is the difference between the two sizes?

Only the length changes. The roll is 60 cm wide in both cases: the 500 cm variant contains 3 m² of film and the 600 cm variant 3.6 m². The colour is silver and the material is PET. Choose the size based on the number and width of the panes you want to cover.

Do I need glue to apply it?

No: it is a static cling film, so it sticks to the glass without a glue layer. The supplier does not describe the fitting. Generally, with this type of film, you spray water on the clean glass, place the film and smooth it from the centre towards the edges with a soft spatula.

Can it be removed and reused?

The supplier does not say, so we cannot guarantee it. Static cling films are usually removed without any glue to clean off, but reuse depends on the condition of the film after removal. Store any leftover roll in a tube, not folded, and away from dust and dirt.

Does it provide privacy by day and by night?

We cannot guarantee it. A mirror film reflects light and the effect depends on the difference in light between outside and inside. At night, with the lights on inside, the effect disappears and you can see into the room: the supplier advises closing the curtains at night.

Can it be applied to any glass?

The supplier does not state which glass is suitable. Apply it to smooth, clean glass without cracks. For double glazing, toughened glass or glass with coatings, ask the window frame manufacturer, because a reflective film changes the way the glass absorbs heat. Do not apply it to damaged glass.

When will my order arrive?

Delivery takes 7 to 15 business days after payment; you receive the tracking number by email. The maximum delivery time is 15 business days: if it is not met, you can cancel the order and get a full refund.

Can I return the product?

Yes: you have 30 days from delivery to return the unused product in its original packaging. Return shipping costs are paid by the customer. All the details are in the return policy.

How can I pay?

You pay the full amount when you order, with the payment methods offered at checkout. We do not offer instalments or cash on delivery.
