Self-adhesive ceiling panels: size and material
Each panel is a square of 35 × 35 cm and covers 0.1225 m². With 5 pieces you cover about 0.61 m², with 10 about 1.22 m² and with 20 about 2.45 m². For the ceiling of an entrance hall of 2 × 1.8 m, which is 3.6 m², you need about 30 panels: for example, a pack of 20 and one of 10. The material given by the supplier is XPE foam, soft to the touch; the available colour is white. The thickness is not stated. The supplier also gives a tolerance of 1-3 cm in the dimensions, due to manual measuring: check the alignment as you fit.
How to fit ceiling panels
The supplier shows six steps: measure the surface, clean, cut the panels to size, peel off the backing from the back, stick and finish the fitting. The ceiling must be clean, dry and have well-bonded paint. Draw two perpendicular lines in the centre of the room and start from there: the trimmed panels end up next to the walls, where they are less noticeable. Press each panel over its whole surface, from the centre towards the corners. For the lamp, switch off the power and cut out the hole with the craft knife before peeling off the backing. Work on a stable ladder, preferably with two people. An honest tip: an adhesive can take some paint with it when peeled off.
The relief on ceiling panels: ceiling rose and scrolls
In the centre of each panel there is a raised floral ceiling rose, surrounded by diagonal bands that form a diamond; in the corners there are decorative scrolls. When the panels are joined, the corners meet and complete the pattern, so the ceiling looks like a single decorated surface, reminiscent of coffered ceilings with plaster mouldings. The white lets only the relief stand out: with the light of a lamp or a side window the ornaments cast faint shadows, while with front light the surface looks more even. In one of the photos you have three close-up details of the ceiling rose, useful for understanding the depth of the pattern.
Where to use self-adhesive ceiling panels: ceilings and walls
In the photos the panels cover a ceiling with a lamp, a bathroom wall and a wall with a desk: they are therefore used both overhead and on the wall. On the ceiling they renew a flat surface without building work; on the wall they create a decorated area behind a desk, the bed headboard or the sofa. In the bathroom the position matters: we have no verifiable data on how they behave with water and steam, so fit them away from the shower, the bath and splashes, and air the room after every shower. They are decorative panels: they are not designed to cut noise or to protect against the cold.

Frequently asked questions
How many panels do I need for the ceiling?
Multiply the length by the width of the ceiling and divide by 0.1225, the area of a panel. For a ceiling of 2 × 2 m, which is 4 m², you need 33 panels: you can order a pack of 20, one of 10 and one of 5. Keep a few extra pieces if there are many cuts, for example around lamps or windows.
Can they be used above the shower or the bath?
We advise against it. We have no verifiable data on how they behave with water and steam. In the bathroom choose areas away from the shower and the bath, where less steam reaches, and air the room well after using it. If there are already damp patches, deal with the cause first, because the adhesive needs a dry surface.
Can they be cut?
Yes, the foam cuts with a sharp craft knife and a metal ruler: the supplier shows this among the fitting steps. Cut from the back, before peeling off the backing, to fit the panels next to the walls, in the corners or around the lamp.
Can they be peeled off without damaging the ceiling?
The adhesive is made to stay put. When a panel is peeled off it may take some paint with it or leave glue residue, especially on recently painted surfaces. If you plan to remove them in future, first do a test with a single panel in a spot that is hard to see and judge the result after a few days.
