Wall decals and stickers: what is in this collection

A wall sticker, also called a wall decal, is a decoration with adhesive on the back that you apply to the wall. Here you will find all the wall stickers in the shop, in five families:

  • acrylic mirror: gold letters of 10 cm and silver letters of 20 cm; 12 gold hexagons, 4 squares of 25 × 25 or 35 × 35 cm and a flower, which you will also find among the 3D and mirror wall stickers;
  • nature and landscapes: mountains and forest in black, a waterfall with a hole-in-the-wall effect, tropical leaves of 150 × 70 cm, pink cherry tree, tree with birds, watercolour boho flowers and green potted plants;
  • shapes to repeat: 36 boho hearts and 12 butterflies with a 3D effect;
  • children’s room: glow in the dark moon and stars in a set of 103 pieces and savannah animals in cartoon style;
  • quote stickers: quotes in English, a quote for the kitchen and another about the home, also gathered among the quote and lettering wall stickers.

How to choose material and size: vinyl, PVC or acrylic

The quotes, potted plants, leaves and watercolour flowers are made of vinyl or PVC, thin, flexible plastics that spread well over a smooth wall. Acrylic mirror reflects the room (the squares are 1 mm thick and flexible), but on a wall with dips the reflection is distorted: for mirrors choose the flattest wall.

Some wall stickers look good in photos but turn out smaller than expected on the wall: to choose the size, start from the wall. Large wall stickers, such as the leaves of 150 × 70 cm, fill the space above a sofa or a bed; sets of small pieces you arrange yourself, together or scattered. The 10 cm letters look good on a small wall, the 20 cm ones can be read from across the room.

Wall stickers for the living room and bedroom

In the living room the most suitable walls are the one above the sofa or the one behind the TV unit. If you are looking for modern wall art stickers, go for the gold hexagons put together like a honeycomb or the mirror squares set in a row; for a warmer living room, the boho flowers or the palm leaves.

In the bedroom the classic spot is the wall behind the headboard. In an adult bedroom the black mountains, the pink cherry tree, the boho hearts and the English quotes look good. Leave a few centimetres between the headboard and the design, so the pillow does not rub the edges.

Kitchen, bathroom, hallway and corridor: where to put them and where not

In the kitchen the quote sticker and the potted plants look good on the wall next to the table or above the door, away from the hob: heat and steam make the adhesive give way. Behind the worktop you need a proper splashback, such as the kitchen tile stickers.

In the bathroom the mirror hexagons and the waterfall go on the wall next to the washbasin, away from splashes and never inside the shower; to cover a whole wall see the bathroom tile stickers. In the hallway and corridor choose a compact design at eye level, such as the quote about the home; above an office desk the mountains or a quote work well.

How to apply wall stickers

You need a cloth, a tape measure, a pencil, masking tape and a soft squeegee or a plastic card. The wall must be smooth, clean and dry; if you have just painted it, wait a few weeks.

  • dust the wall with a barely damp cloth and let it dry;
  • for sets of many pieces and for mirrors, mark the positions in pencil first;
  • hold the sticker against the wall, fix it with a strip of masking tape halfway up and check that it is straight;
  • lift the top half, peel the backing off up to the tape and press with the squeegee from the centre to the edges; then remove the tape and repeat with the bottom half;
  • if there is a transparent sheet over the design, go over it with the squeegee and peel it off slowly, folding it back on itself close to the wall.

How to clean them and how to remove them from the wall

To clean them, a soft, barely damp cloth is enough, with a little mild soap on stains, without rubbing the edges. On acrylic mirrors use a microfibre cloth: rough cloths scratch them, and alcohol and glass cleaners dull them.

Some models, such as the gold letters, the hexagons and the waterfall, are described as removable. To remove them, warm them with a hairdryer on a medium setting, lift a corner and pull slowly, keeping the sticker close to the wall; glue residue usually comes off with warm water and soap. A sticker that has been removed rarely sticks on well again.

How much they cost and how many pieces you need

The price depends on the size and the number of pieces in the set. To compare them, divide the price by the area the design covers or by the number of pieces. The number of pieces, when there is one, appears in the product name: 36 hearts, 12 butterflies, 103 for the moon and stars. Measure the free space and compare it with the product page; if one set is not enough, you can put two identical ones together.

Delivery is tracked and the maximum delivery time for your country is shown on each product page before you buy, and you can return the order within 30 days. To cover a whole wall see the peel and stick wallpaper or the decorative wall panels.

Frequently asked questions

Do wall stickers damage the wall?

On a wall that has been painted for some time and is completely dry, normally not: if you remove them slowly, after warming them with a hairdryer on a medium setting, they come off without marks. The risk exists with old, chalky paint or paint applied only a few days earlier, which sticks to the glue and comes off in flakes. Before fitting, press a piece of adhesive tape onto a hidden corner and peel it off: if it takes the paint with it, the wall needs repairing.

Why do wall stickers peel off?

The most common causes are dust or grease on the wall, fresh paint that is still releasing moisture, heat and a rough wall. On textured or scored render the glue only touches the peaks and does not grip: wall stickers need a smooth wall. If an edge lifts, warm it with a hairdryer on a medium setting and go over it with the squeegee, pressing for a few seconds.

Can wall stickers be used outdoors?

No, these are indoor wall stickers. Direct sun, rain, frost and changes in temperature fade the design and make the glue give way, so avoid facades, balconies and the outer face of the front door. Indoors too, choose dry walls, away from the shower, the hob and radiators: these are the places where a sticker comes off first.

Where can I find custom wall stickers?

There are no made-to-order printed stickers in this collection: each model has a fixed design and size. For something personal you can use the adhesive mirror letters, gold at 10 cm or silver at 20 cm: check on the product page which letters are included and put together a name or a word. The shape sets too, such as the 36 boho hearts or the 12 butterflies, can be arranged as you like, so every wall turns out different.

Can glow in the dark stars be stuck on the ceiling?

Yes, the set with the glow in the dark moon and stars of 103 pieces is designed for both the ceiling and the wall. The stars charge up in the room light and glow in the dark when you switch it off: the more light they receive during the day, the longer they can be seen. On the ceiling, clean the surface well and press each piece for a few seconds, because there the glue works upside down.
