Scalloped wooden mouldings: size and material
The pack contains 10 identical pieces. Each strip measures 40 × 4 cm: the long straight side sits against the edge you want to decorate, and the opposite side is cut into identical semicircles. Laid in a row, the 10 pieces cover 4 linear metres. The supplier gives the material as wood and describes it as 'manufactured wood', a term that usually refers to a derived product such as plywood or MDF. It does not specify the exact type, nor the thickness. The supplier also warns that the measurements are taken by hand and may vary by 1-3 cm. If your project needs an exact measurement, write to us before ordering and we will check it.
How to cut and fix scalloped wooden mouldings
The supplier gives no fixing method, and the pack contains no adhesive. On unfinished wood, PVA wood glue works; on lacquered or varnished furniture and on a smooth wall, a mounting adhesive or double-sided mounting tape is more suitable. Clean the surface, run a fine bead of glue along the back of the strip and hold it with masking tape until the glue grips. Place the pieces one after another, so the row of semicircles continues without gaps. To shorten the last piece, use a fine-toothed saw, cut where two semicircles meet and sand the cut with fine sandpaper. If you are painting them, do it before fitting.
Scalloped edge in natural wood or painted
The scalloped edge softens the straight lines of a piece of furniture. Painted cream white, as on the storage unit in the children's room in the photo, it goes well with light wood and beige tones. In a strong colour it becomes a noticeable detail: in the other photos you see it in light blue over shelves and a desk, and hand-decorated with poster paints. To paint it, first rub it with fine sandpaper, then use an acrylic paint or water-based enamel. To leave it natural, a wax or clear varnish is enough. The product arrives unfinished, in a light wood colour: the colours in the photos are examples of finish.
Where to use scalloped wooden mouldings
In the photos the strips edge the front of three wall shelves, the base of the drawers of a desk and the top of a storage unit in a children's room. Other ideas: the edge of a bookcase, the front of a bedside table, a window or mirror frame, or a strip halfway up a wall. With 10 pieces you can decorate, for example, two 120 cm shelves with 3 pieces each, and the front of a 160 cm desk with 4 pieces. These are wooden decorations: do not use them inside the shower, on the edge of the bath or near the hob, because the supplier gives no resistance to water or heat.

Frequently asked questions
Are they pre-painted?
No. The strips come in unfinished, light-coloured wood, without varnish. The colours you see in the lifestyle photos, the cream white of the children's room and the light blue of the shelves and desk, are examples of finish. You can paint them with an acrylic paint, a water-based enamel or poster paint, or leave them natural with a coat of wax.
How many mouldings do I need for a shelf?
Measure the length of the front and divide it by 40 cm. A shelf of 80 cm needs 2 pieces; one of 1 metre needs two and a half, so the third piece must be shortened by cutting between two semicircles. With a set of 10 pieces you get 4 metres of edging: keep one spare piece for cutting at the ends.
Which glue should I use?
On unfinished wood, PVA wood glue works. On lacquered or varnished furniture and smooth walls, a mounting adhesive or double-sided mounting tape is more suitable. Glue is not included in the pack: choose one suited to the surface and test it on a hidden corner before gluing all the pieces.
Can it be applied to a curved edge?
The strips are designed for straight runs: if you bend them, you risk breaking them. On a wide curve you can join shorter pieces, cut between one semicircle and the next, but the result is a broken line rather than a continuous curve. For rounded edges, a flexible PVC or foam profile is more suitable.
When will my order arrive?
Delivery takes 7 to 15 business days after payment; you receive the tracking number by email. The maximum delivery time is 15 business days: if it is not met, you can cancel the order and get a full refund.
Can I return the product?
Yes: you have 30 days from delivery to return the unused product in its original packaging. Return shipping costs are paid by the customer. All the details are in the return policy.
How can I pay?
You pay the full amount when you order, with the payment methods offered at checkout. We do not offer instalments or cash on delivery.
