Half-round bead moulding seen from the front and from the flat back with scalloped edge

Half-round wooden mouldings: size and material

The set contains 10 identical strips. Each is about 40 cm long, 1.4 cm wide and 0.7 cm thick. The supplier warns that, measured by hand, there may be a deviation of 1-2 cm. In total you have about 4 metres of profile. The wood is beech, unfinished and without varnish, and the grain shows well, especially on the beads. The profile is a row of half-spheres joined together at the front, while the back is flat, with a scalloped edge that follows the shape of the beads.

How to fit wooden mouldings: wood glue or small pins

The back is bare wood, with no adhesive layer, so you need glue to fix the strips. On wood, doors and furniture, use PVA wood glue; on a smooth wall, a mounting adhesive. Run a fine line of glue along the flat back, press the strip on and hold it with masking tape until the glue grips. On furniture you can add a few fine headless pins, after drilling a small hole with a fine bit: beech is hard, and a strip only 0.7 cm thick can split. To shorten them, use a fine-toothed saw and cut at the narrow point between two beads: the edge comes out cleaner. If you plan to paint them, do it before fitting, when it is easier to reach all sides.

Cut ends of half-round beech mouldings: half-circle section

Unfinished wood to paint: the bead effect

The cut ends show the half-circle section: each bead is a half-sphere, so the strip stands out only slightly from the surface and creates a soft relief. Left natural, beech has a light, warm colour that goes with wooden furniture, light oak and Scandinavian-style furniture. Because it is unfinished, it is ready for a finish: first sand it lightly with fine sandpaper and wipe off the dust, then choose acrylic paint, wood stain or wax. One coat in the same colour as the furniture gives a subtle relief; a contrasting colour makes the beads stand out.

Where to use wooden mouldings: doors, furniture and shelves

In one of the photos the mouldings follow the edges of the furniture in a kitchen with light wood. A row of beads changes the look of a flat door without replacing it. The supplier also lists them for walls, shelves, windows, doors and DIY projects. Other ideas: the front of a drawer, the edge of a shelf, a mirror frame, a wooden headboard. With 4 metres in total you can edge, for example, the fronts of four 80 cm shelves, using two strips for each. Before ordering, measure the edges you want to decorate and divide by 40 cm: you will know straight away how many strips you need.

Frequently asked questions

Are they self-adhesive?

No. The back is bare, flat wood, with no adhesive layer or film. To fix them, use PVA wood glue on wood and furniture, or a mounting adhesive on a smooth wall. On furniture you can add a few fine headless pins. Hold them with masking tape until the glue grips.

Can they be painted?

Yes. The wood comes unfinished, without varnish, and you can finish it as you prefer. Sand it lightly with fine sandpaper, wipe off the dust and apply acrylic paint, wood stain or wax. For the beads, a small brush with soft bristles works best, as it gets into the gaps between one half-sphere and the next.

Can they be bent to follow a curve?

No. They are beech strips and are not made to bend, so use them on straight runs. For corners, cut the pieces at the narrow point between two beads, or at 45° with a mitre box if you want a continuous joint. For a curved edge you need a flexible profile.

How many strips do I need for a wardrobe door?

Work out the perimeter of the part you want to edge. A door of 60 × 40 cm has a perimeter of 2 m, that is 5 strips of 40 cm. As the supplier notes a possible deviation of 1-2 cm per piece, always keep a spare strip: for two doors of this size, order two sets.

When will my order arrive?

Delivery takes 7 to 15 business days after payment; you receive the tracking number by email. The maximum delivery time is 15 business days: if it is not met, you can cancel the order and get a full refund.

Can I return the product?

Yes: you have 30 days from delivery to return the unused product in its original packaging. Return shipping costs are paid by the customer. All the details are in the return policy.

How can I pay?

You pay the full amount when you order, with the payment methods offered at checkout. We do not offer instalments or cash on delivery.
