Wood effect vinyl strip: size and material
You receive one roll, in the finish you choose, 8 cm wide and 5 m long. The material is PVC: the visible face has the grain pattern, and the back has a layer of adhesive covered by a grid-printed protective liner. Fully unrolled, the strip covers about 0.4 m². In practice, one roll is enough for the skirting board along a 5 m wall or for the frame of a large mirror. For the frame of an 80 × 210 cm door, on one side only, you need about 5.2 m: two 210 cm uprights and a head of about 96 cm. In that case two rolls are needed, and a piece of about 4.8 m is left over.
How to apply the wood effect vinyl strip
It is fitted like sticky tape. First clean and dry the surface: the adhesive grips best on smooth wood, laminate or paint, without dust or grease. Measure the section you want to cover and cut the strip with scissors or a craft knife, following the lines on the grid paper. Then peel back the liner a few centimetres at a time and press the strip with your hand from the centre towards the edges, as in the photo of the skirting board fitting. At frame corners and mouldings, cut both ends at 45° and join them so the join is clean. Note, however, that an adhesive can take some paint with it when peeled off, especially on recently painted walls.
Five finishes: ivory white and wood effects
Ivory white has a light background with a faint grain: it suits doors and frames lacquered in white, and barely shows on a light wall. The ebony effect reproduces an almost black wood and creates strong contrast on white or grey walls. Between the two there are three intermediate finishes, ash walnut effect, larch effect and light walnut effect: in the photos the tones range from grey to light wood, with dense, straight grain. To choose, look at the colour of the door or nearby floor: a similar finish blends in with the whole, while a contrasting one draws a clearly visible line. If you cover several elements in the same room, order all the rolls together: rolls made at different times may show small differences in tone.
Where to use the strip: frames, skirting boards and mirrors
The photos show two uses: a skirting board along a wall, and a frame around a bathroom mirror. At 8 cm wide, the strip covers the architraves of doors up to 8 cm wide in one pass and the perimeter of a unit; cut lengthways, it also covers the edges of shelves. In the bathroom keep it away from water: the supplier states it is not suitable for contact with water, so it works well around a mirror, but not inside the shower or on the edge of the bath. Along the skirting board, when you mop the floor, pass the mop without soaking it and dry any splashes. To clean, use a soft, slightly damp cloth.

Frequently asked questions
How many rolls do I need for a room's skirting board?
Add up the length of the walls and subtract the width of the doors. For a 3 × 4 m bedroom with an 80 cm door, you need about 13.2 m, that is 3 rolls of 5 m. Add a few centimetres for each corner, where the ends are cut and joined.
What height of skirting board does it cover?
The strip is 8 cm high. It covers an existing skirting board up to 8 cm high, or creates a decorative band at the base of a wall that has none. If the skirting board is lower, you can trim the strip lengthways with a craft knife and a metal ruler, following the lines on the back paper.
Does it come off without leaving marks?
It depends on the surface. To remove it, warm the adhesive with a hairdryer on a gentle setting and pull slowly, keeping the strip close to the surface. On painted walls it may take some paint or leave residue, which can usually be removed with lukewarm water and mild soap. Before covering everything, test a hidden section.
Can it be applied to a door that is already painted?
Usually yes, if the paint has been dry for a few weeks, is smooth and has no parts that flake. Clean the frame first with water and mild soap and let it dry well. On matt or porous paints, test with a short piece: if after a day the strip holds, you can carry on with the rest.
When will my order arrive?
