Self-adhesive PET mosaic sheets, about 30 × 30.5 cm and 1.2 mm thick according to the supplier. Each sheet has shiny, elongated tesserae in beige, metallic bronze and brown with a marble effect, and a 3D look. You choose lots of 1, 10 or 30 sheets. The back is adhesive: clean the wall, peel off the protective layer and press the sheet onto a smooth surface. A lot of 10 sheets covers about 0.9 m².

Self-adhesive mosaic tiles: size and material

Each sheet measures about 30 × 30.5 cm and covers 0.09 m². A lot of 10 sheets covers about 0.9 m² and a lot of 30 sheets about 2.7 m². The material given by the supplier is PET, with a declared thickness of 1.2 mm.

To work out how many sheets you need, divide the area in m² by 0.09 and round up. A splashback 60 cm high and 2 m wide, that is 1.2 m², needs 14 sheets: a lot of 10 plus 4 loose sheets. Allow a few extra sheets for cuts around sockets and corners.

How to fit self-adhesive mosaic tiles

The supplier shows six steps: clean the wall, measure the distance, cut the sheet to size, peel it from one side, line it up and press it against the wall until the surface is covered. It recommends lining up the sheets carefully from left to right, following a guide line. Cutting is done with scissors, using a ruler as a guide.

Before you start, draw a horizontal line with a spirit level and begin from there. The wall must be smooth, dry and free of grease. An honest tip: a strong adhesive can take some paint off when peeled, so test one sheet in a discreet spot first.

Beige, bronze and brown: the look of the mosaic

The finish is a single one, which the supplier calls champagne gold. In the photos the tesserae are shiny, with metallic bronze reflections, next to light beige tesserae and dark brown tesserae with veining, giving a marble effect. The 3D look comes from the relief of the tesserae: close up you can see the edges and the shine.

The real colour may differ a little from the photos because of light and screen. As the surface is shiny, reflections change with lighting: look at how the light falls on the wall before choosing the quantity.

Where to use gold self-adhesive mosaic tiles

The supplier's photos show it as a kitchen splashback, behind a sink with a gold tap. According to the supplier's guide, suitable surfaces are ceramic tiles, glass, acrylic panel, laminate, painted wall and stainless steel. It is not suitable for brick, stone, render, rough wood, plasterboard walls or greasy walls.

The supplier does not state heat resistance: avoid fitting it directly behind the hobs and leave a safety distance from the cooking plate. If the wall is rough or not stable, choose another product.

How many sheets do I need for a splashback?

Each sheet covers about 0.09 m². Measure the splashback in m², divide by 0.09 and round up. For 1.2 m², for example 60 cm high by 2 m wide, you need 14 sheets. Allow a few extra sheets for cuts around sockets, corners and shelves.

The supplier's guide lists ceramic tiles, glass, acrylic panel, laminate, painted wall and stainless steel. It lists brick, stone, render, rough wood, plasterboard walls and greasy walls as unsuitable. In any case the surface must be smooth, clean and dry.

Can it be cut to fit around sockets and edges?

Yes, the supplier shows cutting with scissors and a metal ruler. For a clean cut you can use a sharp cutter. Trace the outline on the sheet before removing the protective layer, so you do not dirty the adhesive or waste tesserae.

How are the sheets joined so the join does not show?

The supplier advises lining up the sheets carefully from left to right, following a guide line. The design uses irregular tesserae, so the join between two sheets may still be visible up close. Lay the sheets out dry before sticking, to choose the best combination.

Does it come off without damaging the wall?

We cannot guarantee it. A strong adhesive can take some paint off when peeled, or leave residue, especially on walls painted recently. If you need to remove it, start from a corner and pull slowly. Test one sheet in a hidden spot first.
