Padded wall panel: size and material

The pack contains 5 panels in the same colour. Each panel measures 23 × 50 cm and is 10 mm thick. The material given by the supplier is PE (polyethylene); a supplier photo shows the letters XPE. The covering looks like leather, but the listing does not say what material it is made of. Five panels cover about 0.58 m², that is 0.115 m² each. For a strip behind a 160 cm bed you need 7 panels in a row: order two packs, that is 10 panels, and you will have spare pieces for cutting.

How to fit the padded wall panel

The back has a silver adhesive layer: the supplier mentions fitting in a few minutes, with no screws or other fixings. Clean and dry the wall, and use a spirit level to draw the line along the top edge so the strip is straight. Remove the film from the back, press the panel on, press firmly over the whole surface and join the panels vertically, as in the photo of the children's room. On rough, dusty or freshly painted walls the grip is weaker. An honest tip: the adhesive can pull some paint off when you remove the panels.

Six padded panel colours: orange, grey, cream, blue, green and pink

There are six colours, and each pack contains one colour only. In the photos the blue is a muted sky blue, the grey is light, the cream is a soft beige, the pink is delicate, the green is dark and the orange is bright. You can mix several colours, as in the children's room photo with cream and grey panels: for two colours you need two packs. Colours on screen may look a little different from the real colour. Panels of different colours have the same size and thickness: only the shade changes.

Where to use the padded panel: bedroom and children's room

In the photos the panels cover the lower part of the wall next to a bed or bedside table, as a soft strip at mid height. They are padded: in the supplier's photo a finger presses slightly into the material. The supplier gives no test results or other performance data, so we present them only as a soft, decorative wall covering. Choose a smooth, dry wall, for example behind a bed or in a children's room. Avoid bathrooms and damp walls: we have no verified data on contact with water.

How many panels do I need for a bed headboard?

A panel is 23 cm wide. For a 160 cm bed you need 7 panels in a row, 50 cm high, that is two packs, or 10 panels. For a 1 m high strip, put in two rows: 14 panels, that is three packs. Measure the wall and draw a level line before you order.

Are screws or glue needed?

No. The supplier describes a self-adhesive back and says no screws or other fixings are needed. The images show a silver layer that you peel off. On rough, dusty or freshly painted walls the grip is weaker: clean and dry the surface well and, if needed, wait until the paint is fully dry.

Can they be cut?

The supplier does not mention cutting. In general, a soft material like this is cut with a sharp craft knife and a metal ruler, in several light passes. Test first with a panel you will not use, and remember that the cut leaves the filling visible.

Can I mix different colours?

Yes, but each pack contains one colour: for a two-colour effect, order two packs. In the children's room photo the cream and grey panels alternate. Order all the packs together, because colours on screen can look a little different from the real ones and the shades should match.

Will they come off without damaging the wall?

The adhesive is made to stay put. When you remove the panels it may take some paint or leave residue, especially on walls painted recently or with weak adhesion. Before you cover the whole strip, test one panel in an inconspicuous spot and leave it for a few days.
