3D wall panels in PVC: size and material

Each set contains 10 square panels measuring 30 × 30 cm, all of the same design. One panel covers 0.09 m², so one set covers about 0.9 m²: for example, a strip 30 cm high and 3 m long, or a 90 × 90 cm square with one spare panel. The material is PVC, with a 3D-effect textured surface. The supplier gives a tolerance of up to 1 cm in the dimensions, due to manual measurement: during fitting, check the alignment every two or three panels and, if needed, trim an edge with the utility knife.

How to fit the self-adhesive panels

The back of each panel is already adhesive. Peel off the protective paper, hold the panel against the wall and press firmly over the whole surface, from the centre towards the edges. Before fitting, clean and dry the wall: the supplier advises against walls with greasy dirt, bulges, flaking render or uneven surfaces, because there the adhesive has no stable base. Draw a horizontal line with a level and start from there, placing the panels side by side. Around sockets and switches, cut them with a utility knife. On painted walls, the panels may take some paint with them when removed.

In the photo, a bedroom wall is covered in the pebble effect design. The 27 models fall into several families: brick effect, in grey, red, beige, brown or white and aged red; stone effect, split, irregular or in slabs; wood effect in planks, light, dark or reclaimed; marble effect in small bricks; tile and mosaic effect, with decorated hexagons; bronze-coloured frames and rosettes; and leather effect. Each set contains 10 panels of the same model. Order all the panels at once: as the supplier warns, different batches may show slight colour differences.

How many 3D wall panels you need and where to use them

The panel in the photo shows the real size, 30 cm a side. To work out how many you need, divide the area to cover by 0.09 m²: a wall behind the bed, 2.7 m wide and 1.2 m high (3.24 m²), needs 36 panels, that is 4 sets. The supplier suggests them for living rooms, bedrooms, nurseries, kitchens, bathrooms and studies. In kitchens and bathrooms, choose a wall away from hobs, the shower and direct splashes: we have no verified data on how they respond to water or heat. You can also cover just a strip, for example behind the sofa or under a shelf.

Can I have different designs in the same set?

No, each set contains 10 panels of the same model. If you want to alternate two designs or cover two walls with different effects, order one set per model. For large areas, allow roughly one extra panel for every ten, for cuts along the edges and around sockets and switches.

Can they be cut?

Yes, the supplier says they can be cut to size. Use a sharp utility knife and a metal ruler on a protected surface, scoring several times rather than forcing a single cut. It is mainly useful for the last row by the ceiling or floor, in corners and around sockets, switches and windows.

Are they suitable for the bathroom and kitchen?

The supplier also suggests them for bathrooms and kitchens, but we have no tests on how they respond to water, steam or heat. For that reason we advise a wall away from the shower, the sink and the hobs, where direct splashes cannot reach. To clean them, use a soft, barely damp cloth, with no harsh detergents.

Can they be removed without damaging the wall?

The adhesive is designed to stay put. When removed, it may take some paint with it or leave residue, especially on walls painted recently. If you plan to change the design in future, stick the panels to a thin board of wood or plasterboard, and fix that board to the wall.
