Close-up of a grey adhesive skirting with the red film peeling off the back

Adhesive skirting board: size and material

Each variant is a single 2 m long, 8 cm high piece, as shown by the variant name and a supplier infographic. The material is PVC, that is vinyl, and the strip is flexible: in the photos it rolls up into a coil. For a room measuring 3 × 4 m the perimeter is 14 m, so you need about 7 pieces, minus the width of the doors. The supplier does not give the thickness or the weight. The supplier's product page says that it is not waterproof.

How to fit the adhesive skirting board

The supplier shows a strip with a red film on the back: you peel it off gradually and press the skirting against the wall. First, clean and dry the base of the wall and remove the dust. Measure the length of each section and cut: in the supplier's photos the strip is cut with scissors. Start at a corner and peel the film 20 to 30 cm at a time, pressing as you go, so you avoid creases and air bubbles. An honest tip: a strong adhesive may take some paint with it when peeled off, and on rough or dusty walls it grips less.

Four wood-effect skirting finishes

The finishes are four: yellow oak effect, a warm tone between orange and yellow; black walnut effect, a dark brown; grey wood effect; and maple effect, a light beige. They are printed patterns that imitate wood, not real wood. In the photos the grey skirting has a light grain, while the oak has a more pronounced grain. The real colour may differ a little from the photos, because of light and camera. Each variant is a single 2 m piece: if you need more pieces of the same finish, increase the quantity in your basket.

Where to use the adhesive skirting board

It is applied along the base of the wall, where it meets the floor: in a living room, a bedroom, a corridor or an office. It is useful for finishing the edge without fitting a rigid skirting board, but it does not correct defects in the wall: the strip follows the shape of the base, so any unevenness will still show. Avoid wet areas or places where water collects, because the supplier states that it is not waterproof. Choose a smooth, clean and dry wall.

Frequently asked questions

How many pieces do I need for a room?

Work out the perimeter of the room and divide it by 2 m, the length of one piece. For a room measuring 3 × 4 m the perimeter is 14 m, which means 7 pieces. Subtract the width of the doors and add one more piece for corner cuts and in case of mistakes. All the pieces in one room should have the same finish.

Can I use it in the bathroom?

It is best avoided in wet areas. The supplier states on its product page that the product is not waterproof, and gives no information on resistance to damp. In a dry bathroom, away from the shower and the basin, you could try one piece and check it after a few days.

How do I cut the skirting board?

In the supplier's photos the strip is cut with scissors. Measure the section, mark the length with a pencil and cut slowly. For clean cuts at corners, it is worth testing on a spare piece first. Cut the strip before you peel off the film on the back, so the adhesive stays clean.

Can it be peeled off without damaging the wall?

Peeling it off may take some paint with it or leave residue, especially on walls painted recently. The supplier does not describe the type of adhesive, so test a small piece in a hidden spot before fixing the whole strip.

Is it real wood?

No. It is a vinyl skirting board with a printed pattern that imitates wood, in four finishes: yellow oak, black walnut, grey wood and maple. That is why it is flexible and can be rolled up. The grain you see is printed, and the real colour may differ a little from the photos.

When will my order arrive?

Delivery takes 7 to 15 business days after payment; you receive the tracking number by email. The maximum delivery time is 15 business days: if it is not met, you can cancel the order and get a full refund.

Can I return the product?

Yes: you have 30 days from delivery to return the unused product in its original packaging. Return shipping costs are paid by the customer. All the details are in the return policy.

How can I pay?

You pay the full amount when you order, with the payment methods offered at checkout. We do not offer instalments or cash on delivery.
