Matte furniture vinyl, black or white: size and material
Each roll is PVC, with a matte finish and a plain colour, in two colours: matte white and matte black. The width is 40 or 55 cm. The length goes from 1 to 6 m: with 40 cm there are rolls of 1, 2, 3, 4, 5 and 6 m, and with 55 cm, rolls of 1, 2, 3, 5 and 6 m. The supplier gives a length tolerance of about 3%.
To work out the area, multiply width by length: a 55 cm × 5 m roll covers about 2.75 m², and a 40 cm × 3 m roll, about 1.2 m². Add a few centimetres for cuts and edges.
How to apply self-adhesive vinyl
The back is covered by a protective liner with a grid, useful for marking and cutting the measurement. Clean and dry the surface, and cut the vinyl with a craft knife or scissors. Do not remove the whole liner at once: take off a strip from a corner without touching the adhesive, line up the vinyl and lay it down gradually, removing the liner as you go and smoothing with a spatula to push the air towards the edges.
If a bubble remains, the supplier advises piercing it with a needle and pressing the air out. An honest tip: an adhesive can take some paint or leave residue when peeled off, especially on recently painted walls. Test first in a discreet corner.
Matte white or matte black: choose your finish
Both versions have a matte surface and are a single colour, with no pattern. Matte black gives a dark, even surface: in the supplier's photos it appears on a wall behind a television, on kitchen doors and on the surface of a desk. Matte white is light and even: in the photos it appears in a kitchen with an island, a bathroom unit and a living room.
Self-adhesive vinyl follows the shape of the surface it is applied to: scratches, joins or deep relief may still show. The colour can look a little different on a screen and in room lighting. For a large surface you can place several strips side by side, with the edges well aligned.
Where to use matte furniture vinyl
The supplier recommends it for walls, cabinet doors, worktops, panelling, splashbacks, shelves and bedside tables, in rooms such as a living room, bedroom, study and kitchen. It should be applied to smooth surfaces: the supplier's instructions list walls, smooth wallpaper, ceramic tiles, wood, metal, glass and plastic, while damaged, damp or textured surfaces are not recommended.
In the kitchen, keep it away from intense heat sources such as burners, and do not rest pans freshly taken off the heat on it. To clean it, the supplier recommends a damp cloth.

Frequently asked questions
Which width and length should I choose?
Measure the surface and choose the nearest width, 40 or 55 cm. If the surface is wider than the roll, you can place several strips, with the edges well aligned. For the length, add a few centimetres for cuts and allow for the 3% tolerance the supplier gives. For example, a 55 cm × 3 m roll covers about 1.65 m².
Can I use it on a worktop or in the kitchen?
The supplier also recommends it for worktops and splashbacks. The surface must be smooth, clean and dry. We have no data on how it handles heat: keep it away from flames and hobs, and do not rest very hot pans on it. To clean it, use a damp cloth, as the supplier recommends, and avoid abrasive sponges.
How do I avoid air bubbles?
Do not remove the whole liner at once. Take off one corner, line up the vinyl and lay it down slowly, removing the liner little by little and smoothing with a spatula from the centre towards the edges. The supplier advises piercing any remaining bubbles with a needle and pressing the air out.
Can it be removed without damaging the surface?
We cannot guarantee it. An adhesive can take some paint or leave residue, especially on recently painted walls or porous surfaces. Before applying it to the whole surface, test a discreet corner and judge the result. If you decide to remove it, pull slowly starting from one corner.
