Kitchen tile stickers
These kitchen tile stickers go on a smooth wall or over the old splashback tiles, with no glue and no filler. There are 3D models, mosaics and sticker sets, from 15 × 15 to 30 × 30 cm.
For the bathroom see the bathroom tile stickers, and for the rest of the home the stick on tiles for walls and floors.
Frequently asked questions
What coverings are there for a masonry-built kitchen?
In a masonry-built kitchen the splashback is usually already tiled: there you can fit the self-adhesive tiles directly over the ceramic, if it is smooth and degreased. On rendered pillars and low walls you can also use the mosaics and the 3D models, as long as the paint is smooth and firmly bonded. Avoid exposed stone or raw brick, where the adhesive does not grip, and the strip next to the hob, where heat weakens it.
Do you need glue to fit stick on tiles in the kitchen?
No. The adhesive is already spread on the back and protected by a film: you peel it off and press the piece onto the wall. Tile cement, spread with a notched trowel in a layer a few millimetres thick, is for traditional ceramic tiles. Do not add glue or silicone under these pieces: they create uneven thicknesses, form bubbles and make them almost impossible to remove in future.
Can you fit stick on tiles on the kitchen floor?
The ones in this collection are intended for walls: the splashback, the wall behind the sink, a strip above the worktop. On the floor they have to withstand footsteps, dragged chairs and frequent mopping, so you need models made expressly for floors. In that case, fit them on a smooth, clean, dry surface, starting from the centre of the room and pressing each piece firmly, especially at the edges.
Does kitchen steam make self-adhesive tiles peel off?
It can if steam and grease often reach the edges. Switch on the extractor hood when you cook, do not boil pans right next to the wall and wipe off splashes straight away. How well they grip depends mostly on the fitting: a degreased, dry wall, with the pieces pressed firmly from the centre to the edges. If a corner lifts, warm it a little with a hairdryer and press it for a few seconds.
How do you remove self-adhesive tiles without damaging the wall?
Peel slowly from a corner, pulling the piece almost parallel to the wall; a hairdryer on low heat softens the adhesive. On ceramic there is normally only residue, which comes off with warm water and mild soap. Some colour may come off paint, so test in a corner first. Two models in the collection are described as removable, handy if you rent.
