Stainless steel effect vinyl: sizes and material
The roll is 40 cm wide. There are five lengths: 1 m covers 0.4 m², 3 m cover 1.2 m², 5 m cover 2 m², 10 m cover 4 m² and 20 m cover 8 m². The material is PVC, with a metallised silver finish.
The supplier does not state the thickness (it only mentions a thick vinyl), so we do not write it. “Stainless steel effect” describes the look: it is not steel and does not have its properties. To cover a 60 × 170 cm door you need two strips of 1.7 m, that is 3.4 m: always allow a few extra centimetres to trim the edges. The pack contains one roll only.
How to fit the self-adhesive vinyl
The vinyl is self-adhesive: remove the protective backing, which in the photos is white with a grid, and press it onto the surface. One photo shows a corner lifted over a fridge while the vinyl is being laid.
Clean, degrease and dry the surface before you start, and measure with a few centimetres of margin. Peel off the backing little by little and press with a soft spatula or a cloth, from the centre outwards, to avoid bubbles. Trim with a sharp craft knife. An honest tip: the adhesive is made to stay, so on a painted surface, when you remove the vinyl, you may damage the finish or leave residue.
Brushed silver: the surface effect
The surface is metallised, silver, with fine brushed lines that reflect light differently depending on the angle. In the photos it covers a fridge door, while the roll shows the same fine lines.
There is one colour only, silver. The real colour may differ from the photo because of the light and the screen. On a flat surface the effect is even, but any imperfection in the base, such as a fold or a dent, can still show through a metallised vinyl: if the door is dented, the result will be uneven. Joins between two strips should be made with the lines running in the same direction.
Where to use the stainless steel effect vinyl
The supplier recommends it for fridges, cooker hoods, kitchen units, tiles and walls. The photos show a two-door fridge, a fridge with a freezer on top, a worktop by a window and a metal kitchen table.
An honest limit: the supplier does not state heat resistance, so do not place it near flames or hobs, and keep it away from areas that get very hot, for example the side above the burners under a cooker hood. For other uses the usual rule applies: a smooth, clean, dry surface.

Frequently asked questions
Which length should I choose for a fridge?
The vinyl is 40 cm wide, so a door 60 cm wide needs two strips placed side by side. For a door of 60 × 170 cm you need two strips of 1.7 m, that is 3.4 m: the 5 m roll is advisable, as it also leaves some margin for cutting. If you cover several doors, add up the metres and choose the 10 m or 20 m roll.
Can it go near the hobs?
The supplier does not state heat resistance, so we cannot recommend it near flames, hobs or parts that get very hot. On a cooker hood or a kitchen unit, place it away from the burners. If you are unsure about a particular area, test a small piece first and check that it does not deform.
Can it be removed without damaging the surface?
The supplier gives no instructions on how to remove it. The adhesive is made to stay: on a painted surface it may take some paint with it or leave residue. On a fridge or a metal door, test in a hidden corner and peel slowly, starting from one edge, warming the vinyl gently with a hair dryer.
How do I join two strips?
Lay the strips with a small overlap or edge to edge, leaving no gap, and keep the brushed lines running in the same direction, so the effect is continuous. Start from the edge with the reference line drawn with a spirit level, press from the centre towards the sides and trim the excess with a sharp craft knife.
Is it real stainless steel?
No. It is metallised PVC vinyl with a brushed stainless steel effect: it changes how the surface looks, not its properties. It is not a substitute for metal cladding and should not be used to protect against heat or impact. If the base is dented or damaged, imperfections can still show through the vinyl.
