Close-up of the end of the linden wood moulding: clean cut, fine thickness and natural grain

Wavy wooden moulding: size and material

The pack contains 12 identical pieces. Each piece measures 40 cm long and 6 cm high, is 3 mm thick and draws a regular wave, with about four and a half waves from one end to the other. The material is linden wood, shown in a light colour in the photos, sold raw, meaning without varnish or primer. Laid in a row, the 12 pieces cover 4.80 linear metres: enough for a wall up to 4.80 m long or for the edge of several shelves. If the wall is longer, order a second pack and keep the same wave.

How to prepare and fix the wooden moulding

The cut ends are clean and show the grain of the raw wood. Before painting, run fine sandpaper along the edges and faces, then remove the dust with a dry cloth. For an even colour, apply a wood primer and two coats of acrylic paint, using a small brush or a sponge. Paint the pieces before fixing them, edges included.

The description does not mention glue or double-sided tape included. For fixing, choose a glue suitable for wood and for the type of wall, and apply it to a clean, dry surface. First draw a line with a spirit level, so that the wave runs straight along its full length.

The wave effect: pieces joined in one continuous line

In the fitting photo, two pieces are joined end to end at mid-height: the wave continues from one piece to the next and reads as one smooth line. It is a simple way to divide a wall into two bands, for example a darker colour below and a light one above, or to create a light frame above a bed headboard. The colour is up to you: painted like the wall, the moulding creates a subtle relief; in a contrasting shade it draws a very visible line. If you leave it raw, it keeps the warm tone of the light wood. If you divide the wall into two colours, paint both bands first and then stick the moulding over the dividing line: it hides the join between one colour and the other.

Where to use it: child's room, shelves and DIY panelling

The moulding is designed as wall decoration, but the 40 cm format also works for small furniture jobs. Some ideas:

  • a continuous line halfway up a wall in a child's room or in the hallway;
  • the front edge of a shelf, a bookcase or a wooden headboard;
  • DIY panelling, combined with straight battens and painted in one colour;
  • the frame of a chalkboard or a noticeboard in a child's room.

On a varnished piece of furniture, lightly sand the contact point: the glue grips better. Spread the glue over the whole back, including the ends, so that the tips of the wave are stuck down too.

Frequently asked questions

What paint do I need to paint it?

Acrylic paint and water-based enamel work well on raw wood. Sand lightly with fine paper, remove the dust and, for an even colour, apply a wood primer first. Paint the pieces before fixing them: this way you also cover the edges and the curves of the wave better.

How many metres does one pack cover?

The 12 pieces of 40 cm, laid end to end, cover 4.80 linear metres. To find out how many pieces you need, measure the wall and divide the length by 0.40 m. For a 3.5 m wall, 9 pieces are enough; for the perimeter of a room you usually need two or more packs.

Can it be cut to size?

Yes. At 3 mm thick it can be cut with a fretsaw or a sturdy craft knife, running the blade several times along the same line. Then sand the edge with sandpaper. If you cut the last piece near a corner, test the position first to choose the cleanest point of the wave.

How is it fixed to the wall?

The description does not state whether glue or double-sided tape is included. You can use an assembly adhesive or a wood glue suitable for the wall, in spots on the back, pressing each piece for a few seconds. Clean the surface well first. If you ever remove it, the adhesive may take some paint off the wall.

When will my order arrive?

Delivery takes 7 to 15 business days after payment; you receive the tracking number by email. The maximum delivery time is 15 business days: if it is not met, you can cancel the order and get a full refund.

Can I return the product?

Yes: you have 30 days from delivery to return the unused product in its original packaging. Return shipping costs are paid by the customer. All the details are in the return policy.

How can I pay?

You pay the full amount when you order, with the payment methods offered at checkout. We do not offer instalments or cash on delivery.
