Wooden beaded mouldings: size and material
Each set has 8 identical strips, in the width you choose. All are 40 cm long. The width, that is the diameter of the beads, is 20, 14 or 9 mm depending on the variant. Laid end to end, they total 3.2 linear metres. To frame a 50 × 70 cm mirror, which has a perimeter of 2.4 m, you use them all: two per side, with a joint on each side. The profile is half-round: the beads are round at the front, and the back of the strip is flat, so it sits well on the surface. The wood is unfinished, with no varnish or wax. The supplier's images show it as beech.
How to fit wooden mouldings: cutting, painting and fixing
The supplier's images show cutting with a saw. For the corners of a frame, use a mitre box at 45° and cut through the point between two beads: the joint comes out cleaner. Before painting, rub the wood with fine sandpaper and wipe off the dust. Unfinished wood soaks up a lot of paint, so one coat of primer helps you get an even colour. The side you stick is the flat back. The set includes only the strips, with no glue or pins: for wood on wood, use PVA wood glue; for glass, tiles or walls, you need a mounting adhesive suited to the surface. Bear in mind that if you peel off a strip stuck to a painted wall, it may take the paint with it.
20, 14 or 9 mm: which width to choose
One of the photos shows strips of several widths next to a ruler. Only the three sizes listed in the variants are available. At 20 mm the beads are large and visible even from a distance. They suit large surfaces, such as a low cabinet, a headboard or the panels of a wall. At 14 mm you get a middle size, suited to mirror frames and wardrobe doors. At 9 mm the profile is slim and discreet, for shelf edges, boxes, photo frames and small DIY jobs. If you need more sets, order them together and in the same width: natural wood can vary slightly in tone from one batch to another.
Wooden mouldings for mirrors, furniture and walls
In one of the photos, a beaded moulding follows the edge of a rectangular mirror in a bathroom. The same profile can trim the flat doors of a cabinet, the fronts of drawers, the edge of a shelf or a headboard. On a wall you can draw boiserie-style panels and paint them along with the wall, for a light relief. Left natural, pale wood goes with white, linen and sand tones. Painted, it takes on the colour of the surface and shows through in the shadows between the beads. In a bathroom, seal it first with varnish or paint: unfinished wood does not tolerate water.

Frequently asked questions
How many metres of moulding are in a set?
A set contains 8 strips of 40 cm, that is 3.2 metres, all in the width you choose. To work out how many sets you need, measure the length you want to cover and add about 10% for 45° cuts and offcuts. For 5 metres of edging, with the margin you come to 5.5 metres: 2 sets are enough.
Can the beads be painted?
Yes. The wood is unfinished and takes acrylic paint, water-based enamel, wood stain or wax. First rub it with fine sandpaper and wipe off the dust. For a solid colour, apply one coat of primer, then two thin coats, using a small brush that gets well between one bead and the next.
How are they fixed?
The back is not adhesive, and the set has no glue or pins. On wood and furniture, use PVA wood glue and hold the strip with masking tape until it dries. On glass, tiles or walls, choose a mounting adhesive suited to the surface. On wood, you can add a few fine pins, driven in between two beads.
Can they be used in the bathroom?
One of the supplier's photos shows a mirror framed in a bathroom. However, the unfinished wood is not protected. Before fitting it, paint it or apply a clear water-based varnish on all sides, and keep it away from splashes from the basin and shower. After showering, ventilate the room so the wood does not stay damp for long.
