Self-adhesive wood effect vinyl: size and material

The vinyl is PVC and is sold in rolls. There are two widths, 40 and 55 cm, and the lengths range from 1 to 5 m: 40 cm in 1, 3 or 5 m, or 55 cm in 2 or 5 m. A 40 cm × 5 m roll covers about 2 m²; a 55 cm × 5 m roll, about 2.75 m². The supplier does not state the thickness.

How to apply self-adhesive vinyl

The supplier describes the fitting simply: the back already has adhesive, so you only need to remove the protective film and stick. In the photos the protective film is clear. Clean and dry the surface, measure and cut the roll a little longer than needed, and apply one section at a time, pressing from the centre towards the edges to push out air bubbles. In the photos a door is covered by pressing the vinyl down by hand. An honest tip: self-adhesive vinyl can be hard to remove, and when peeled it can take some paint or varnish with it.

Eight wood effect models

The models are eight, numbered 1 to 8; the description of each is based on the supplier's photo. Model 1 has a white wood effect with grey grain, model 2 is black with dark grey grain, and model 3 is a light grey beige. Model 4 imitates dark walnut, model 5 a honey-coloured chestnut wood effect, and model 6 a medium rustic wood effect with knots. Model 7 has a light natural wood effect and model 8, a light golden wood effect. All models come in all five sizes. The real colour may differ from what you see on screen.

Where to use self-adhesive wood effect vinyl

It is designed for tables, cupboards and doors, and the photos also show a kitchen worktop, a sideboard, a fridge and a bench under a window. The supplier's listing mentions kitchens, bedrooms, studies and living rooms. Choose smooth, clean and dry surfaces. We have no verified data on how it handles heat or water: near burners and on wet worktops, test a small section first. For a surface wider than the roll, several strips will be needed, joined carefully.

Which size should I choose?

It depends on the surface. The widths are 40 and 55 cm, and the lengths 1, 2, 3 or 5 m. For a door 50 cm wide and 150 cm high, for example, choose the 55 cm wide roll and 2 m long. Measure the surface and add a few centimetres for trimming.

Are all models available in all sizes?

Yes: each of the eight models comes in the five formats, that is 40 × 100 cm, 40 × 300 cm, 40 × 500 cm, 55 × 200 cm and 55 × 500 cm. In the variant list, choose the model first and then the size.

Which surfaces is it suitable for?

The supplier does not indicate which surfaces are suitable or which to avoid. In general a smooth, clean and dry surface is needed. On a painted or lacquered surface, a strong adhesive can take some paint with it when peeled off: test first on a small hidden section.

Can it be used in the kitchen?

The supplier's photos show the vinyl on kitchen worktops, but we have no verified data on how it handles heat or water. So we cannot guarantee how it behaves near burners or wet areas: apply it to a dry surface, away from flames and strong heat sources.

Do the colours match the photos?

Each of the eight models looks like the supplier's photo. The real colour may differ a little from the screen; if you need to cover a large surface, order all the rolls together, of the same model, for a uniform look.
