Flexible self-adhesive moulding: size and material

Each pack contains 1 piece, 230 cm long and 12 cm wide. The thickness is about 5 mm, according to a calliper reading in the supplier’s photos. The material is PVC, described as flexible foam moulding. The surface has a raised design, with arabesques and a braided lattice. One piece covers about 0.28 m². For a band along a 4 m wall, you need 2 pieces. If you need more length, order more pieces in the same colour, all together.

How to apply the moulding

The supplier describes it as self-adhesive: you peel the film off the back and press it onto the wall, with no extra glue. Clean and dry the surface, draw a line with a spirit level and measure the length. In the photo, a hand rests it against the wall. Cut it with a craft knife. At corners the moulding bends: the supplier’s photos show it folded in a V. Start from one corner, press each section for a few seconds, and trim the excess at the end. An honest tip: the adhesive can take some paint with it when removed.

Five colours: white, silver, gold, yellow and white, copper

There are five colours. White has a relief in the same white. Silver and gold have a shiny finish in the photos. Yellow and white has yellow and cream shades, and copper has an orange-brown tone. The raised design is similar across all versions: only the tone and finish change. The colour on your screen may look slightly different from the real thing. Each pack has one colour and one piece: for a continuous band, order all the pieces in the same colour together.

Where to use the moulding: bands, ceilings and doors

In the photo, a yellow and white band runs halfway up the wall of a living room. The supplier recommends it for walls; in its photos it is also used along the ceiling and around a door. It works as a decorative finish and does not bear weight. The supplier’s specifications state that it is not waterproof, so keep it away from showers and water splashes. Choose a smooth, clean and dry surface. Before fixing the band across the room, place the piece against the wall and check the height from several points.

How many pieces do I need for a room?

Measure the perimeter: a 4 × 3 m room has a perimeter of 14 m. Each piece is 2.3 m long, so you need 7 pieces (16.1 m), which leaves a margin for corners and cuts. If the band does not run around the whole room, count only the sections you need and add a few centimetres for each join.

How do you cut it?

One of the supplier’s photos shows it being cut with a craft knife. With a metal ruler and a sharp blade, the cut is clean. At 5 mm thick, it is best cut with several gentle passes. Trim at the end, after pressing the moulding onto the wall, so the joins fit together.

Is the design the same in all colours?

In the photos, the raised design looks similar in all versions, with arabesques and a braided lattice. Only the tone and finish change. The versions are white, silver, gold, yellow and white, and copper. The colour on your screen may look slightly different from the real thing, so bear this in mind when choosing.

How thick is it?

In the supplier’s photos, a digital calliper reads 5 mm. This figure comes from the images, not from a technical data sheet, so treat it as approximate. The width is 12 cm and the length is 230 cm, according to the supplier and the variant.

Can it be removed without damaging the wall?

The adhesive is made to stay put. When removed, it can take some paint with it or leave residue, especially on walls painted recently or with poorly adhering paint. Before applying it along the whole wall, test a cut-off piece in a hidden spot and leave it for a few days.
