Ceiling rose for a lamp: size and material

The ceiling rose is a single 37 cm diameter piece, according to the supplier’s diagram, and weighs 585 g. The material is polyurethane, a plastic polymer used to reproduce plaster decorations: it is a faux plaster effect, not real plaster. In the centre there is a circular hollow with a raised ring. The back is a solid cream-coloured disc, as seen in the photo, with no hole already made. The diagram shows a second dimension of 6.5 cm, but does not explain what it refers to, so we do not use it. The thickness of the relief is not stated.

How to fix the ceiling rose

The supplier says to fix it with strong glue or nails. The back is flat, so the glue can adhere across the whole surface. Before you start, clean and dry the ceiling, mark the centre and test the piece without glue. Then spread the glue over the back, press the ceiling rose on and hold it firm until it sets. An important tip: the ceiling rose is decorative only and must not hold the lamp, which stays fixed to the ceiling with its own fixing. If you need to disconnect the lamp, switch off the power at the consumer unit or call an electrician. If the cable has to pass through the centre, the opening must be made, because in the photo the back is solid.

Leaf relief, white for painting

The decoration is a relief of leaves and scrolls that run from the central ring to the edge, where the outline closes in a series of rounded lobes. Close-up photos show the veins and the smooth surfaces of the petals. The factory colour is white. The supplier says it can be painted in several colours: before doing so, test on a less visible area and check that the paint suits this material. The design comes in one model only, with no size or colour variants.

Where to use a decorative ceiling rose

The supplier proposes it for villas, hotels and home renovations, as decoration around a lamp fixing. Choose a lamp whose fixing to the ceiling is smaller than 37 cm, so the ceiling rose frames it. The supplier gives no maximum temperature: if the lamp bulbs get very hot, leave some distance between the ceiling rose and the bulbs. With one piece per order, for a composition of several ceiling roses, order more packs. Before ordering, measure the space on the ceiling: 37 cm in diameter covers a wider area than it looks in the photo.
