Stone effect adhesive panel in front of an already clad living room wall

Stone effect adhesive panels: size and material

Each panel measures 30 × 30 cm, is 0.3 cm thick and covers 0.09 m². The 10-piece pack covers about 0.9 m²; the 1-piece pack is useful for testing the colour and grip, or for finishing a job. The material is matt PVC, embossed in relief to reproduce the stones and joints. It is flexible and can be cut with a craft knife or scissors. The supplier advises allowing 10% more for cutting waste and buying all the panels at once, to reduce the risk of small shade differences between batches.

How to fit the adhesive panels

The supplier's method has four steps. Clean and dry the wall well; if it has been painted recently, wait up to three weeks. Plan the layout and cut the panels where needed. Peel the film off the back and join each panel to the previous one, edge to edge. Finally, press with a plastic spatula, working along the joints and the recessed areas, and go over the joints again the next day. Suitable surfaces are smooth painted walls, smooth ceramic tile and glass, metal and wood; not raw plasterboard, rough plaster, brick, stone or greasy surfaces.

Two colours, two stone designs

The photos show two different designs. Brown reproduces irregular stones of varied shapes and sizes, in sand, beige and light brown tones, with well-defined joints. Brown-grey reproduces more regular, almost rectangular stones, laid in courses like a coursed wall, in grey and brown tones. In both cases the stones are raised and the joints sit lower: with side lighting the joints cast shadows and the relief reads more clearly. The matt finish creates no shiny reflections. On screen the colours may look slightly different from the real colour.

Where to use the panels: living room, kitchen and bedroom

The photos show the panels on a living room wall, in a kitchen between the worktop and the shelves, in a dining room and behind a bed. The supplier also lists them for the hallway, utility room, office and motorhome. There are limits, though: no outdoor use, no floors, no showers or areas in direct contact with water, and at least 30 cm from the centre of hobs and fireplaces. One photo shows the cladding around a fireplace: if yours is in use, keep to that distance. Behind the hob, leave a strip free or cover it with ceramic tile.

Frequently asked questions

How many panels do I need for a wall?

One panel covers 0.09 m² and ten cover about 0.9 m². For a 3 × 2.5 m wall, that is 7.5 m², you need about 84 panels, plus the 10% waste the supplier advises: about 93 panels, that is, 10 packs of 10. The supplier suggests ordering them all together, to limit shade differences between batches.

Can they be removed?

The supplier advises warming the adhesive with a hairdryer or heat gun and pulling slowly, starting from the corners. Even so, on painted or porous walls the adhesive can take some paint with it or leave residue. If you plan to remove them in the future, test first in a discreet corner.

Can they be used in the bathroom?

Yes, on bathroom walls away from water, if they are smooth and clean. The supplier advises against the shower and any area in direct contact with water, and we do not promise that they will hold up to constant splashing. For the shower screen or the edge of the bath, ceramic tile is more suitable.

Can they be placed over existing tiles?

Yes, if the tiles are smooth: smooth ceramic is one of the surfaces the supplier recommends. Clean and degrease old tiles well, as grease reduces grip. Where the grout lines are deep, press harder with the spatula so the panel sticks there too.

How do I cut them?

With a sharp craft knife or sturdy scissors, as the supplier indicates. Mark the line in pencil on the back, cut on a firm surface and use a metal ruler for straight cuts. Around sockets and switches, turn off the power, remove the cover, cut the panel to size and refit the cover.

When will my order arrive?

Delivery takes 7 to 15 business days after payment; you receive the tracking number by email. The maximum delivery time is 15 business days: if it is not met, you can cancel the order and get a full refund.

Can I return the product?

Yes: you have 30 days from delivery to return the unused product in its original packaging. Return shipping costs are paid by the customer. All the details are in the return policy.

How can I pay?

You pay the full amount when you order, with the payment methods offered at checkout. We do not offer instalments or cash on delivery.
